  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter (cubed)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch thick pieces.
  3. In a bowl, toss apple slices with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  4. Spread the apples evenly in a greased baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  6. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture forms pea-sized crumbles.
  7. Mix in chopped nuts if using.
  8. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and apples are bubbling.
