- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup softened butter (for filling)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk or cream
- 2 tablespoons softened butter (for icing)
- 1/2 teaspoon natural vanilla seeds
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, melted butter, and natural vanilla seeds.
- Gradually add flour and salt to the yeast mixture, then incorporate the wet ingredients.
- Knead dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 60-90 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Roll dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread softened butter over the dough.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over buttered dough.
- Roll the dough into a tight log and pinch the seam closed.
- Cut into 1.5-inch slices and place in a buttered baking dish.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, softened butter, and natural vanilla seeds to make the icing.
- Drizzle icing over warm cinnamon rolls and enjoy!
Notes
For extra gooey cinnamon rolls, add a small pan of hot water to the oven while baking.
